New York Time Articles

College does make students smarter but it also depends on the student. For example, the student has to be committed to his or her studies. They also have to focus on their major and focus on how long it would take them to finish college. In the article "A Different Type of Student" explains how students now have a whole different class environment whether it's using computers instead of paper or watching videos instead of reading about something. Yes, there are some students that are lazy and do not learn anything with this type of environment but students themselves discipline his or herself to learn and get smarter. If a student does not want to do anything about their future than that is their own problem. Most students do get smarter in college because of how they study and also how they know when to have fun and when to get serious about school in general.
